Obesity and mental health are intertwined in a bidirectional relationship, meaning each can contribute to the development or worsening of the other. Obesity is commonly associated with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, lack of motivation for physical activity, and sleep disturbances. Obesity can also be secondary to a medication side effect. All conditions should to be addressed together to break the cycle.
